Candle meditation, also known as candle gazing, is a deeply relaxing and soulful form of meditation. This is a low-tech yet very effective approach to relax for anyone who suffers with meditation and does not want to be hooked into an app. Candle meditation is a basic meditation method in which you focus your sight and concentration for a certain period of time on the flame of a candle. The flame of a candle is mysterious, and it draws attention. It flickers, changes form, emits a halo, and flashes a variety of colors. All of this stimulates the mind, draws attention to itself, and relaxes it. It is simpler to focus the thoughts and attention in this scenario, disregarding chatter of the mind, and experience inner peace.

Candle meditation, like other techniques, has several advantages. Unlike traditional meditation, which requires you to focus and quietly repeat a mantra or conjure up a mental image, candle meditation just requires you to rest your eyes on the gradual flicker of the flame. Simple.

Candles have traditionally been used to pay respect, as a beacon to show the way home, and to help create a welcoming environment. Lighting a candle at the outset of a meditation session can assist to center you in the present moment. The flame symbolizes enlightenment, which is especially appropriate when considering candle meditation.

Candle meditation provides many of the same advantages as other types of mindful practise. Taking time out of your day to quiet your mind and focus on a candle's serene flame offers several health advantages for the body, mind, and spirit.

Candle gazing has been shown to improve our capacity to concentrate while also lowering emotions of tension and worry. Meditation can help us become more resilient, patient, and focused in our daily lives over time. It may even aid in the promotion of comfortable sleep. 


CANDLE MEDITATION: THE TIPS

Candle meditation is best performed when it is dark or in a room with the curtains closed and all artificial like turned off. Ideally you want a gentle flicker, so place the candle in a spot with little or no breeze. Light your candle and place it about a meter in front of you at eye level.

Scent has a powerful ability to affect the practice depending on the aromas you choose. For example, The fresh earthy and grounding

Try not to meditate soon after consuming food or caffeinated drinks. Before you start, make sure you are sitting comfortably with a straight spine and you are warm enough. You should then gently rest your gaze on the candle. You might notice you blink a little more or your eyes water, this is normal and they will adjust. The aim of candle meditation is to focus your attention on the gentle flicker of the flame and ensure that you are breathing slowly and deep down into your belly. Take your time but don’t put pressure on yourself, start with five minutes and gradually build-up to 20 minutes. This technique will help you calm your mind down. It is an excellent exercise for training the mind to focus and concentrate on one single object or thought in accordance with your will. Who doesn't enjoy a little extra concentration.
